SMEs Management and Development
INTRODUCTION
![]()
During the last decade of the twentieth century, a growing number of small businesses and industries (SMEs) were established in developing countries. It is a recognised major business trend that in the 21st century, SMEs will generate an even greater number of jobs than big industry. Furthermore, it has been estimated that in future, personal-consumption expenditures will increase significantly and therefore the service sector is likely to become more competitive.
Under such circumstances, SMEs would play a major role in the economic growth of those transitional countries that are moving toward a more market-oriented society.
